Software Engineer (Contractor)
As a software engineering contractor, your responsibilities would include:
- Writing quality software for clients and providing them with technical direction
- Managing a relationship with clients, managing expectations, handling concerns, and coaching them through the software development process
- Working well in a small team and independently when necessary
- Participating in daily stand up and weekly planning & retrospective meetings
- Taking ownership of our work-product
Being in Philadelphia is preferable, but not necessary.
About the ideal candidate
We are looking for contractors with skills in the following skills:
- Ruby, Python, and/or Elixir
- Server-side web frameworks (including Ruby on Rails, Flask, Django, Node.js and/or Phoenix)
- JavaScript
- Writing automated unit and feature tests
- Knowledge and appreciation of REST
- Git & GitHub
- Relational databases
- Key/value stores
Experience with any of the following is preferable:
- Deploying to and managing infrastructure on the cloud
- A variety of client-side JavaScript frameworks (preferably including React.js, Redux, Lodash, or Ember.js)
- Mobile development in iOS, Android, and React Native
- Shell scripting
