Django Platform Developer
Does it bug you that people don’t seem to vote or get involved anymore? We’re working on that. Everyday we are building technology to change the world, one citizen at a time. You will be building and refining the PlaceSpeak platform to implement that vision. Your focus will be on the application and database tiers, but you will be collaborating closely with front-end coders as part of a user-centric development process.
Responsibilities
- Write, test, and deploy Django apps.
- Build internal APIs to connect those apps with front-end interfaces.
- Architect major platform innovations and integrations.
- Craft high-quality, durable, commented, maintainable code.
- Participate in joint planning exercises.
- Have an opinion about our priorities and processes.

Requirements
You have
- 4+ years experience developing and deploying web sites and applications
- Experience with Django.
- Ability to identify and improve inefficient Django ORM queries
- Some experience setting up and managing servers.
- Experience with REST basics (Django REST Framework a bonus).
- Experience with unit testing.
- Experience with deployment tools such as Fabric.
Also desirable
- Experience writing geospatial code.
- Experience with Celery/RabbitMQ or other task & messaging systems.
- Experience with the React or Angular front-end JavaScript frameworks.
- Experience with Vagrant.
